A primordial feature in sequential scenarios where throughput (GB/s) – and not IOPS – plays the key role. RAIDIX commits to high performance not only for a single workload stream but for a multitude of concurrent streams within a single storage.
Support for the dual controller storage configuration precluding SPOF. RAIDIX enables RAID groups with Erasure Coding (EC) and delivers required data integrity and availability even on simultaneous failure of two (RAID 6) or more (RAID 7.3 and RAID N+M) drives.
RAIDIX ensures efficient management of EC RAID groups comprising 12–24 disks. At that, the system may utilize large-volume 6–12TB HDDs.
Under major workloads, most storage systems reveal dramatic performance decrease in case of disk failure in RAID groups with checksums (RAID 5 or 6). The array switches to the degraded mode, which can cause interruptions in service functioning. Disk group reconstruction in these solutions make take up considerable time. Apparently, the longer it lasts – the greater the risk of new drive failures and data loss.
RAIDIX adopts the EC technology in a way to sustain storage performance even when an admissible QoS-mandated number of disks goes out of service.
RAIDIX-based data storage supports granular system extension by adding extra drives and drive enclosures, host bus adapters, and network interfaces, or by boosting CPU capacity and RAM volume.
RAIDIX’s high upgrade potential unlocks the ability to replace abovementioned hardware with newer and more powerful components should the existing equipment turn obsolete. RAIDIX allows the administrator to upgrade the infrastructure seamlessly with no downtime and in line with the customer’s evolving needs.
